Rally Report 2011

  • Hatton Country World, Sandy & Ben
The first rally of the season and what a scorcher, the weather could not have been better and a good turnout for Sandy & Ben’s first time as rally marshals.

Thanks to you both for a super weekend.

  • Lyndon Top Rutland Water, Margaret & John
A big thank you to Margaret & John for running a double rally. What can we say about the weather, Easter weekend was so hot no one moved, although it did cool off towards the end of the week? So far so good this year for the weather!! It was a great rally, the Easter bonnets were lovely, we won’t mention who won, just to say the biscuits were very nice and I bet Emily enjoyed her chocolates. The tea party went very well for the royal wedding, Wills and Kate will be pleased to know everyone enjoyed themselves!!!

Thanks to Margaret and John

  • Coombe Country Park and Medieval Banquet,  Maria & Steve
It was 27 years since our last visit here, let’s not leave it so long next time. Ok weather wise it did not work, cold and windy with the odd shower. The area was beautiful; the grounds were very nice with plenty to see. Those that attended the medieval banquet had a great time, the entertainment was very good. Chris (NOZ) got on very well with Fanny (buxom wench)!!

Thanks to Maria & Steve for organizing it all.

  • Eccleshall Castle, Norma & Bill
We did not go to this one but I understand it was a wet weekend. Lovely walks around the grounds and a good pub meal.

Thanks to Norma & Bill

  •  Haxey Quays Misterton, Gill & Geoff
A lovely site next to the canal, lots of walks and fishing, and the best fish and chips ever! And 100yds from a pub!

Thanks Gill & Geoff and they got the good weather.

  • Elvaston Castle, Emma & Michael
What happened to the weather, there was supposed to be a heat wave and it rained. It was still a good weekend, a beautiful site which everyone loves to return to year after year. We had a walking DF hunt in the grounds, with the Fox threatening to expose themselves if no one found them!! Well done to Wendy & Ian for being the first, it saved a lot of embarrassment.

Thanks to Emma & Micheal for their first time as rally marshals although we think Nanny and Granddad G4SGY did a lot of the work!!

  • Somerset Holiday Rally, Judith & Roy
A small turn out but a sociable holiday. The first week the weather was wonderful, we thought we had cracked it! The second week typical RCC weather rain and oh yes more rain. Wookey Hole and Cheddar gorge are spectacular. Fish & Chip ‘get together’ went very well, especially the impromptu desserts, particular Jeff’s rice pudding.

Thanks to Betty & Paul for finding the site, sorry you could not attend. It was one of the best sites we have been on.

  • The Fir Tree Falconry Banbury, Ann & Doug, Jo & Paul
Unfortunately Doug could not run his own rally due to ill health, we are glad to say he is now well on the road to recovery. Jo & Paul took over as rally marshals at short notice which we are all very grateful for. The site had lovely views and we all enjoyed watching the falconry displays.

Thanks Ann & Doug for finding and booking the site.
  • AGM Blue Lias Dunchurch, Committee
Another successful  AGM at a wonderful location. Weather was a bit changeable  but some of us managed to take a stroll down the canal.  The AGM  went well and dinner in the restaurant was excellent again with some impromptu entertainment from our own George Formby.

  • Monks Farm  Stratford, John & Rita
A cracking new location with electric hook ups and fishing from site.  A windy weekend but great fun was had by all and we will definitely be back.

  • Loves Lane Ashwell Herts, Ian & Wendy
Marquee was planned but stormy weather meant it could not be erected so a group of us went out for a meal to celebrate Steve G8UZQ’s Birthday. Judith and Wendy ate most of the birthday cake !! Pleasant walk into the village on Saturday and lunch in the local pub.  Another location that we will use again and we will be dinning out again.
